<html><head></head><body><div style="font-family: Verdana;font-size: 12.0px;"><div>Greetings,</div>
<div> </div>
<div>we are currently planning a new project with our already existing RTAI code base and would like to implement an EtherCAT Master in there.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Most embedded boards available now feature newer Intel network chips, like the I210. Unfortunately, these chips are driven using the igb driver and not the older e1000e drivers.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>In Kernel 3.16 the fitting driver for the I210 is already there, however it does not exist as EtherLab native driver.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>I read in some several years old messages similiar questions like mine, but at that time, there was no solution to this aside from using a different network chip.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Did this change? Or is anyone working on implementing this? Or is anyone interested in a joint venture on this subject?</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Right now, I am not even sure on the amount of effort needed to convert a linux driver to an EtherLab native driver or if there are maybe issues that make conversion of the igb driver especially difficult.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Thanks for your help,</div>
<div>Michael</div>
