I'm not sure, but there is one bit in Category General:
Flags 0x000b Unsigned8 Bit 0: Enable SafeOp
Bit 1: Enable notLRW
(from EtherCAT Slave Device Description, V0.3.0, page 53).
No use with the netX, tough. As its EEPROM is almost empty.
