Florian, Richard

Thanks for the replies. Let me flesh this out for you a bit more:

For Richard --
My platform is a Shuttle K45 with dual Pentium (Intel E2160), with Linux
2.6.24, patched with rtai 3.7.1. I've attached the kernel-cflags.c file
for your review. I'm using the onboard ethernet for connection to my
office LAN, while an PCI Intel Pro100 is connected to my Beckhoff ethercat
hardware for testing.

For Florian --
I discovered when initially trying to install ethercat that the 1.6 bundle
does not have a configure option for e100 driver (configure --help), nor
is the driver source available in the bundle. Poking around in the forums
led me to an earlier thread about using ethercat-devel-r1590.tar.bz2,
which has the e100 driver for 2.6.24 in it, so I grabbed that as the
thread indicated this could be used within the 1.4 branch. I copied the
2.6.24 drivers into the 1.6 bundles' /devices directory but couldn't build
ethercat with them, since the configure shell script had no options for
it. So I went back and built ethercat from the -r1590 tarball, which
worked but of course still has bashisms in the ethercat shell script, and
also has this driver unload hang issue.

Then I tried to build etherlab from the 1.6 bundle (having used the -r1590
code for ethercat), and got the make error under discussion.

So if I understand correctly, it is to be expected that the 1.6 bundle
would be the correct one to use, if only it had included the configure
options and had the source in it (or could be copied from the -r1814
version) as you propose. Poking around in the -r1814 tarball, I see you
have included the latest e100 driver with configure option, so I'll give
this a try today and get back to you.

I hope this helps you understand this more clearly, As a newbie your help
is very much appreciated!

Regards,

Dusty
