Hello Andreas,
According to the table of supported hardware it should be possible to run EtherCAT 1.5 Master with kernel 2.6.31.
Are you sure that its possible? I have had a look at the kernel header file net_device.h. (Version 2.6.31 and .27)
There are some serious differences between the header files. For example:
$ diff -u net_device.27 net_device.31
...
- /* Pointers to interface service routines. */
- int (*open)(struct net_device *dev);
- int (*stop)(struct net_device *dev);
...
The function pointers dont occur in the newer version. That explains the error message, telling me something like that:
$ make modules
error: 'struct net_device' has no member named 'open'
Is their any quite easy way to deal with that problem or do I have to use a second kernel?
Regards
Oliver
