We have never been able to get adequate performance with the generic driver.
Up until now we have been using the 8139too driver with an off the shelf
realtek network card but now that we are going to start using this on our
tools we really want to get the native drivers for the Intel chipsets
working. With the generic driver we would always get a bunch of datagram
timeouts etc. whereas with the native driver for the 8139 we would get much
better performance. We assume it would probably be the same with the Intel
native drivers.
