EtherCAT operating system is a USB boot-able Linux.I embedded into it
etherLAB suite. It is aimed for anyone wishing to boot his laptop and
connect it to an etherCAT drive or to newbies wishing to experiment
etherLAB.
Installation:
1. Download the file in the link bellow into your WINDOWS machine.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/4ui8seohd6pmayi/eCATOs.7z?dl=0
2. Connect a USB pen drive to your windows laptop. ALL DATA on the pen
drive would be LOST so make sure to backup.
3. Open the eCATos.7z file and double click on MakeECAT_Boot.bat batch
script.
4. The script would ask you to enter the USB drive letter. Do it and then
press enter. The batch script formats the pen drive so ALL PREVIOUS DATA
IS LOST.
5. The process is done when the cmd window is closed.
6. Reboot windows but do not pull out the pen drive. Choose to boot the
laptop into the pen drive.
7. Connect the laptop eth0's to an EtherCAT drive.
7. The pen drive boots into a ram drive. It does not access any storage
device. When the boot is done you would see a black screen with ECATos
header and a prompt. now you can enter ethercat commands. for example:
eCATOs $: ethercat sl -v
or
eCATOs $: ethercat download -p0 ....
